Blog(ging) for Friends or Clients

On Gary D's blog Blues Licks and iPics at Centrum 2010 I'm noted as contributor, but I remain in the background, "back stage"if you will, chronicling his experiences at the Port Townsend Blues Festival from his point of view.

The text on the Mariënhof blog is based on a frequent email correspondence between 2005-2010 (focused but not limited to the garden/park) with old friends in the Netherlands. The text is a combination of their reports, combined with results of my personal research, regarding our shared interests in gardening.

As an immigrant I derived great joy from maintaining the virtual garden in my motherland (my father was born in Belgium). Since my name appeared at the bottom of each post and I clearly was not the gardener but the blogger, I posted all texts and even material written by me as though written by my friends AND in first person plural, combining their two voices in "we". Thus I became a ghostwriter, and the garden blog is filed under "learning experience".

In 2005 I tried out another blog backstage at mom, for Gary D while he was working at the Oliver Marion McCaw Hall or "MOM" as the stagehands say; as in "I'm working at MOM's today.
